The 2011 Young Lions are off to Cannes!
The Young Lions winners' event - staged for the first time in Melbourne - was attended by 70 guests who enjoyed French champagne amongst a vibrant atmosphere.
Lachlan Williams from Razor Sydney and Jessica Woodford from 303 Group Perth took out the Media category; Matt Swinburne and Mike Felix from Leo Burnett Sydney won first place in the Print category and Gene Brutty and Tim Seddon from The Brand Agency were the happy winners of the Cyber competition.
All three briefs for the final round of competition were for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation (AMF), a national charity protecting children from violence. The entrants were asked to develop a response within 24 hours for the AMF's Buddy Week, which educates teachers, parents and children about bullying.
Rebecca Cowan, General Manager Marketing of the AMF, said: "The brief for the Young Lions final round competition has given us access to the hottest young talent in Australia, who developed some amazing creative and strategic ideas to further highlight the importance of Buddy Week."
This year we received a record 266 entries, an increase of 44 per cent from last year.

Need foot traffic? Book a half page ad in the Herald Sun.
The Clearance Centre recently ran two ads in the Herald Sun news section (as pictured) and were delighted when a record number of people walked into their store; an unprecedented reaction to any of their previous advertising! Some customers even had copies of the Herald Sun under their arms.
The Clearance Centre owner George Anderson reported that his half page [Herald Sun] advertisements were the best he had ever booked. "The results we saw after advertising in the Herald Sun were better than we ever hoped for. The store has never been so busy in the 20 years we have been open."

| New promotion: Footy in your face! |

Herald Sun readers are experiencing the AFL in eye popping 3D!
The first Official 3D AFL Collector Card series kicked-off in May with a free collector card album and 3D glasses. The first pack was free with purchase of the Herald Sun after which readers could buy them for $2 with purchase of the paper.
Each pack contained popular players, stats, mascots and Platinum Cards plus the chance to win great prizes including tickets to the 2011 Toyota AFL Grand Final and attendance at a VIP training session. The final pack of cards had Mark Knight All Star 3D caricatures.
This promotion follows our recent AFL bumper stickers campaign designed by David "Macca" McArthur. The stickers drove an increase in circulation and reinforced the benefits of advertising during such periods.
Another major promotion will be offered next quarter so stay tuned.
For further information please contact Ben Godkin, deputy marketing director, on 03 9292 2899 or email godkinb@hwt.com.au
