Bite One
New Premium Positions, Ad Sizes & 09-10 Rate Cards
On Wednesday the 1st of July the Herald Sun will introduce new standard advertising sizes and new premium brand positions.

By changing the way we refer to advertisements and providing a visual reference, we are aiming to help simplify the advertising booking process. Some examples of our new range of advertisements will be referred to as a 'Full Page', a 'Quarter Page Strip' or a 'Vertical Quarter Page'.

We are also excited to introduce new premium brand positions, including front page strips, for launch or branding campaigns*. Fiona Mellor, HWT Advertising Director, said "Our premium brand positions are just that, a premium environment that is booked out for months at a time. It's important that the Herald Sun continues to evolve and provide new opportunities for clients and these positions do just that."

*At Editors discretion. Must be booked in conjunction with a premium brand roadblock. Maximum of one per month.

Bite Two
Traditional Newspaper Still Strong
We recently used our online panel of over 1,000 Herald Sun readers to gather insights on our readers' news delivery preference. We asked the question, "If price was not a factor, what would be your first choice in the way you receive news?" 88% of respondents said newspapers, 11% chose online and only 1% ticked mobile.

Of those respondents who use online for their news medium, 78% said it was convenient whilst 56% said it gave them a quick overview.

These results demonstrate the continued relevance of news in the printed form and the benefits of accessing news online.

Bite Three
Chasing Six Million PIs - AFL Finals
The Herald Sun's Sport coverage in-paper and online is second to none and this year's AFL finals season will be no exception. With less than three months to go the Herald Sun has advertising opportunities for campaigns of all shapes and sizes.

In September 2009 the Herald Sun will publish the Brownlow Medal Preview Guide, Finals Analysis, Local Heroes, Grand Final wraps and gloss posters. Photo galleries will also appear on heraldsun.com.au on Tuesday the 22nd of September, the day after the 2009 Brownlow Medal Count. This is the biggest fashion photo gallery on heraldsun.com.au with more than 6 million PIs projected for 2009*.

Meanwhile, Herald Sun TAC SuperCoach - Australia's largest fantasy football game - still has some great targeting opportunities available. You can choose from gender, age, occupation and the AFL team players support when booking your campaign.

Special BiteSpecial Bite
HIA Home Show Shines
The Herald Sun was again the proud official print media partner for the HIA Home Ideas Show. The 2009 event - held at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre - ran from the 15th to the 19th of April with attendance numbers exceeding all expectations.

Jane Ford, Managing Director, Exhibitions and Events Australia said, "Most consumer shows have suffered significant decline in attendance due to the economic downturn. The recent HIA Home Ideas Show bucked this trend and drew 40,255 quality visitors willing to spend. Our partnership with the Herald Sun was a significant contributor to this. Our comprehensive advertising plan with the Herald Sun proved very effective in drawing thousands of our target market to the show."

Circus Oz Partners Herald Sun - Again!
In April this year Circus Oz approached the Herald Sun for a media partnership to promote their new show 'Barely Contained'.

"Last year's partnership with the Herald Sun to promote the 30th birthday of Circus Oz was such a success. The Herald Sun was the obvious partner for this year's show." said Melinda Maillard, Marketing & Communications Director, Circus Oz.

Touring in Melbourne from the 17th June to 12th July, Circus Oz is an international circus act about grown-ups behaving irresponsibly, doing funny, crazy and dangerous things. The two month partnership includes an extensive campaign on heraldsun.com.au and within the Herald Sun and mX newspapers, a full page interview with Artistic Director Mike Finch within the Sunday Herald Sun's 'Stuff' section plus two reader promotions.

For entertainment advertising opportunities please contact Genelle Mackie, Account Manager Entertainment on 03 9292 1721 or email mackieg@hwt.com.au
